Welcome to Gossamer Hill.
Gossamer Hill is representative of our family and business as a whole. My wife Ally, Son Fox and me Luke Johnson. Our company started off with a simple idea. Work for ourselves. We set off like many young couples looking for passive income, online sales. So we started the Gossamer Hill Boutique. It was almost an instant flop. I say that because we literally tried to do what thousands had done before us with the drop shipping of items from online wholesalers. We learned very quickly that the market was saturated with would be clothing stores. It also occurred to us th the ones standing to profit the most where the wholesalers and website hosts. So we dissolved the store. We did not have high hopes for our online store, but we needed to start somewhere in our entrepreneurial journey.
We began to develop our way of thinking about work, life, and family. We knew that time spent at a job was time wasted at home. We were due to have our son Fox in November of 23 and were determined to create a wholesome environment for him. One that allowed for early education to be focused on him and his strengths. We came to the conclusion that the only way for us to grow and him to thrive was to put our time and energy into homeschooling and businesses rather than jobs and daycares.
One direction that has suited these aspirations is real estate investing. My late father in-law ran rental businesses and he believed we could to. He encouraged Ally and I to secure our real estate licenses. So we embarked on the real estate journey. Sadly we lost our biggest supporter and the basis for guidance in March of 2024. Ally’s father passed away unexpectedly and it put us in a tailspin. We were essentially on our own from there on.
I did get my real estate license here in Alabama. Ally is a full time stay at home Mom and is killing it. We have tried to soak up and retain everything her father taught us and continue to push for all the things we talked about accomplishing when he was here. Id say we are doing alright.
As for Fox, we are currently building him a mini farm that he will hopefully enjoy. We have an aviary where we will let him raise quail. We think it will be a good experience for him to have the responsibility of small farming and get to take his products like the little quail eggs to market. Our hope is for him to grasp business concepts from it and begin to decipher assets from liabilities at an earlier age. I know I wish I would have.
I hope to dive further into many of the things touched on in this introduction and I hope that you will come back for more updates as we get this stuff up and running.
